Charitable Activities

Quilter's Paradise, strongly believes in giving back to the community. Quilting has a rich history of giving to, sharing among, and providing comfort to family, friends and those in need. Following are some of the activities we do and participate in.

Cash for Stash Program Twice each year, in the spring and fall, we offer cash for stash. People may bring in fabric pieces and scraps from their stash and we provide a Quilter's Paradise dollar for each pound of donated fabric up to 30 pounds. The Quilter's Paradise dollars may then be redeemed for merchandise in the shop. In turn, we donate the fabric to a variety of guilds, groups and organizations in the San Diego area who use the fabric to make charity quilts for a variety of worthy causes.

Our Fall, 2010 Cash for Stash program realized over 2,000 pounds of donated fabric! Beneficiaries of the charity quilts include Prayers and Squares, Operation Kid Comfort, Project Linus, disabled veterans, battered children and women, hospices, cancer patients, homeless people, kindergarden teachers, and animals in shelters. Batting We are a distributor of high-quality, premier Legacy batting in Southern California. Pellon, the manufacturer of Legacy batting, has a special roll of 80% cotton / 20% polyester batting, measuring 60 inches wide by 60 yards, that we can sell to organizations who will use it for charitable purposes at a very attractive price. Additionally, we will sell all other Legacy batting packages, boards and rolls at 30% off their retail price to such organizations, again for charitable purposes. Charity Quilts
Using our Longarm machine, we quilt over 50 quilts each year provided to Camp Reach for the Sky.
Opportunity Quilts During quilt runs and events held during the year, we provide space for local quilt guilds to display opportunity quilts. People may purchase tickets to win the opportunity quilt from a drawing that the guild holds. Proceeds are used for a variety of purposes including charitable causes and contributions.

Additionally, we provide several quilts each year to local quilt guilds as part of an auction. Proceeds collected by the guild are likewise used for a variety of purposes including charitable causes and contributions.
Fabric Several fabric manufacturers donate money to charitable causes based on purchases of certain fabric lines. Perhaps most well-known among these is Northcott's Quest for a Cure. We are pleased to offer many of these fabrics to our customers in support of such worthwhile causes.
Classroom Space We provide classroom space at no charge for quilt guilds, groups and organizations to use not only for workshops and classes, but also for working on charitable projects. If you are interested in reserving one of our classrooms, please contact us.
