Hello, my Quilters in Paradise!

Summer is just about here and I've recently come across a new word that's entering our vocabulary: staycation. "What's that?" you ask ... Well, with the increased price of gas and the hassles and "sky-high" price of air travel, many Americans are deciding to spend some or all of their summer vacation this year at or near home, hence "staycation". Regardless of your vacation or staycation plans, if you'd like or need a few hours respite from home or work, enjoy spending part of a day at no charge in the comfort of our air conditioned shop doing a "sit and sew" and working on whatever you want. Or, consider enhancing your skills or exploring a new avenue by taking a class. Open 7 days a week, we welcome both individuals and groups and keep our doors open until 9 pm on Thursdays. And while you're in, feel free to use our full size refrigerator and microwave!

In some circles I'm known as the "Gadget Queen" because I'm always looking for things that will make sewing and quilting easier and more enjoyable for myself and others. One really cool new gadget is the Bendable Bright Light that easily mounts to your sewing machine and focuses a brilliant white light on your sewing area. And, we now sell Electric Quilt 6 software which is the leading software package for designing your quilts on a computer. I've used EQ software for years and it really works wonders! To help get you started, Sheila Williams is teaching Beginning Electric Quilt 6 class in a few short weeks so sign up soon to reserve your spot.

Our class schedule has now been updated through July with many new and terrific classes. Of note, We have 3 Palomar College classes starting up in June and several classes for kids taught by Mary Tabar: Hand Bag, Pajama Pants, Pillow, and Small Lap Quilt. And don't forget Pizza at Paradise where our new motto is "Fun and Done". For our next get-together on June 20th, you can either complete a lap quilt called "Streak of Lightning" in a single evening or bring your own project to work on!
