Connecting People with the Joy of Quilting

Hi <%[First]%> <%[Last]%>,

Hello, my Quilters in Paradise!

We all know that shopping bags are real handy for carrying all the "stuff" we get. But, did you know that in recent years, Californians have disposed of an estimated 19 billion plastic bags annually of which only 5% got recycled? To help deal with this, California pioneered legislation last summer to mandate that larger stores recycle plastic bags. I believe that while recycling is great, re-use is better. You may have seen that some places, such as grocery stores, have shopping bags that you can purchase and use over and over. Hmmmm ... good idea ... but "Why not shop in style?" In fact, why not shop in your style? Gail and I have designed - if you don't mind my saying so! - an absolutely wonderful shopping bag called My Shopping Bag. Using only 2 1/2 fat quarters of your choosing, it's about the same size as the plastic bags you're used to using and strong - and they look sooooo much better! The super-simple pattern is only $2 and you'll feel great sporting shopping bags in your distinctive style and giving Mother Nature a helping hand! Plus, they make perfect gifts for your shopper friends and family!

I'm back as Gadget Queen - Part Deux with another useful tool ... As quilters, we can't live without a rotary cutter, but the problem is that the blades get dull with use and have to be replaced (uh oh, cha-ching!). Now you can extend the life of your blades with the Orbital Rotary Blade Sharpener, a safe and easy-to-use diamond sharpening tool for standard 45mm and 60mm rotary cutter blades.

Just in ... the Holiday Chorus fabric line from Andover fabrics. For those of you who want to get an early start on a heartwarming Holiday Season quilt, we've made just the kit for you, the Holiday Chorus Kit.

As for events and classes, we have a complete smorgasbord for you to choose from starting with Pizza at Paradise where our new motto is "Fun and Done". For our next get-together on June 20th, you can either complete a lap quilt called "Streak of Lightning" in a single evening or bring your own project to work on! And, in addition to our ongoing classes, we have:

  • 3 Palomar College quilt classes,
  • Beginning EQ6 with Sheila Williams,
  • 9 Patch Pizzazz with Wendy Mathson,
  • and several classes for kids taught by Mary Tabar: Hand Bag, Pajama Pants, Pillow, and Small Lap Quilt.
