Hello, my Quilters in Paradise!

Whew ... what a month July has been! An absolutely terrific time was had by all during the 2008 Southern California Quilter's Run! With over 1,500 runners coming through the shop, things were certainly "hopping". Plus, we enjoyed meeting with everyone and the Girl Scouts who provided refreshments, hot dogs and other assorted goodies had great success.

Then, it was on to the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach this past weekend. We didn't have a booth there, but instead strolled the aisles of vendors and exhibits. All I can say is "Wow!" Talk about huge attendance and lots and lots to see ... so many new ideas and so little time!

As to what's new, we continue to get new fabric in every week. You may recall from previous newsletters that my husband, Mark, is on a so-called fabric shelf-building "moratorium/sabbatical". He's now beginning to admit that it's only a question of time ... However, to his credit, he just finished building some "virtual shelves" - our new online shopping cart. We expect to be adding new items on a regular basis so you'll want to check it out from time-to-time! And, yes, we do plan to allow signing up for classes online so stay tuned for that.

Speaking of classes, we've updated our schedule through September. Please take note that we are having a Meet the Teachers event on Friday, September 5th from 6:30 until 9:00 where you'll get a chance to learn about a diverse and exciting set of upcoming classes this fall. There'll be time to mix with snacks and refreshments - plus, you'll get 15% off all non-sale merchandise and a chance to win some raffle door prizes! We ask that you sign up by calling the shop - or tell us when you next stop in - so that we can plan accordingly.

And, finally, we've had many questions about whether we will be doing another Cash for Stash event. The answer is "yes" and it will be done Saturday, September 13th through Saturday, September 20th. "Cash for Stash" is where you bring in your fabric scraps and you get one Quilter's Paradise dollar for every pound of fabric up to 30 pounds. You may then spend your Quilter's Paradise dollars for any merchandise in the shop. We will donate the fabric to several local organizations who make charity quilts.
