Hello, my Quilters in Paradise!

I'd like to kick off this first newsletter of 2009 by hoping you all had a great holiday season and terrific start to 2009! Seeing so many familiar and new faces in the shop these past couple of weeks, it seems like many of you are getting back into "high gear" with your quilting projects and endeavors.

I am really excited to tell you about something totally new and exciting that we've created at the shop: ImagiCut^TM Fusible Appliqué Duets! Chances are that when you've come to the shop, you've seen me deeply engrossed on my laptop with papers and what not spread all around. Sometimes it's nothing more than scaling the mountains of paperwork and paying those pesky bills. However, I have been having enormous fun combining my engineering background with my artistic side by using computer graphics software together with our precision laser cutter to create absolutely beautiful and exquisite designs that are easy to incorporate into a wide variety of projects! I debuted them at the Road to California show last week where there was a lot of interest ... and now they're available online and in the shop! I'm also very pleased to announce that, as part of our expansion, we've just upgraded the overhead lighting in the shop. It's a double win as these super energy efficient lights consume much less energy, yet provide more light - and light that is more natural and better to view the fabric.

As for classes, we're adding new ones every week so please keep in touch by periodically looking at our calendar and class list. One, in particular, I wanted to point out is Beginning Smocking being taught by Lynn Postulka who previously worked at Sew Special. More details will be forthcoming soon, but the "sneak preview" is that we're starting to offer fabric, supplies and classes for smocking. A good selection of smocking fabric has already arrived (with more on the way!) along with full lines of Presencia floss and Perle cotton.

Last chance ... special guest Mr. Vic Dadika from Northcott Fabrics will be presenting Fabric Buyer for a Day this Saturday. There's still room in our new large classroom to come and have fun - so call and sign up right away!
