Connecting People with the Joy of Quilting

Hi <%[First]%> <%[Last]%>,

Hello, my Quilters in Paradise!

The 2009 Southern California Quilt Run is in full swing and ends this Sunday (7/19). Even if you don't plan to visit a lot of shops on the run, stop by and get your passport stamped so you're eligible for the drawing of our shop's $300 value prize! Plus, you can take advantage of our run special: all hand-dyed fabric is 20% off! And, while you're in, take advantage of this month's coupon where you can get great deals on Batiks. No sooner did we get over 50 bolts of Batiks a little over a week ago than my husband, Mark, remarked that in looking at the shelves, you couldn't tell we had gotten that much fabric in because the Batiks were selling so fast. I didn't need any more encouragement and so I raced to the phone to order another 50 bolts of Batiks due in any day now.

Some young girls dream of starring in movies (or, I suppose, these days it would be American Idol). I can't say that that was one of my dreams, but I'm happy to say that I have graduated from having photographs of my hands using some of the products we make and sell featured on the web to full-motion, color movies. Last month we announced our new LeaderMate Quilt Mounting System and, to help people see how it's used, my daughter, Karen, filmed me demo'ing the system. If you own a Longarm or Midarm machine, be sure to check the video out. And who knows? Maybe late-night infomercials are next!

And, we've been pretty busy in "Laser Land" making new laser-cut kits. Just out are Always Thankful Table Runner Kit pictured to the right and Christmas Tree Kit pictured to the left. Back by popular demand is our embroidered Rules for Quilting. (Mark keeps wanting me to drop part of the second rule which states "Absolutely no cooking allowed" but that won't happen until you-know-what freezes over!)

We've added a couple of holiday-themed classes in August to help you stay ahead of that Christmas project rush: Holiday Treasure Chest with Jayne Kratzer, and Ode to a Christmas Tree with Lyn Mann. And there's still room for these recently introduced classes: Drunkard's Path Made Simple with Carol Kaplan, Scissor Fob and Pincushion with Anne Davies, Smocking Sit and Sew with Lynn Postulka, and several garment design and sewing classes from Mary Lou Rankin, a well-known designer and educator and creator of the Park Bench Pattern Company. (Go to the classes page and sort the class list by teacher.)

Keep cool and, if you're on the road for the quilt run or vacationing, please enjoy and travel safe!
