Connecting People with the Joy of Quilting
|
Hi <%[First]%> <%[Last]%>,
Hello, my Quilters in Paradise!
It's been great seeing so many of you coming out for the
Row Quilt Run
which runs (no pun intended!) a couple more days through Saturday, August 15th.
As a quick reminder, there are 8 participating local area quilt shops.
The theme of this run is Bountiful Harvest
and each shop will give away FREE directions to make a different row.
Putting them all together makes a terrific 60" x 72" quilt!
We are featuring our new and unique set of
laser-cut acrylic square-up templates.
Pictured to the right,
each set consists of 5 templates measuring 10-1/2", 8-1/2", 6-1/2", 4-1/2" and 2-1/2".
They're just the thing not only for cutting perfect squares,
but for fussy cutting as well ...
Use the appropriate sized template to audition your fabric and then use the next smaller size to do the cutting.
And, because the templates are red,
it's easy to see where to cut and you can use them to determine the
value
(light, medium, dark) of your fabric.
These templates will normally retail for $25.95,
but if you purchase them in our shop during the August Row Quilt Run,
you can get them for the special introductory price of $19.95!
It seems that the US Government has taken a play from our playbook
with their popular "Cash for Clunkers" program.
The play I'm talking about is our very successful bi-annual
Cash for Stash
program.
From Saturday, October 17th through Saturday, October 24th,
bring your fabric scraps into our shop
and you'll get one Quilter's Paradise dollar for every pound of fabric scraps up to 30 pounds.
You may then spend your Quilter's Paradise dollars for any merchandise in the shop.
We will donate the fabric scraps to several area organizations who make charity quilts.
(Please note that we ask that donated scraps be approximately fat quarter size or larger.)
During our previous Cash for Stash event last April,
we received over 1,700 pounds of fabric!
So, start going through your stash and help us help the organizations who make charity quilts for so many worthy causes!
More fall and holiday fabric has arrived including some luscious rayon Batiks!
And, be sure to take advantage of the savings on our holiday fabric with this month's
coupon!
As to classes,
we have a couple of holiday favorites for you:
Holiday Napkins with Carol Kaplan, and
Holiday Gift Box and Bag with Jayne Kratzer.
And, due to popular demand,
Lynn Postulka will be having more frequent
Smocking Sit and Sew
sessions ... instead of once/month, she'll be at the shop each week on Tuesday mornings
to help you start and finish your smocking projects.
Finally, the fall semester
Palomar College quilt classes
start in only a couple of weeks.
You can take advantage of these free quilting classes held at our shop:
the one with Wendy, on Mondays and Tuesdays, is for beginners and the one with Karen, on Wednesday, is for more experienced quilters.
As promised in my last newsletter,
my husband, Mark, has now published the definitive
Types of Quilter's Husbands.
I hope you enjoy reading it!
