Connecting People with the Joy of Quilting
|
Hi <%[First]%> <%[Last]%>,
Hello, my Quilters in Paradise!
I'm so excited because I have so many new things to share with you!
How many of us have a purse, a tote or a bag that we carry all kinds of stuff in?
Pretty much everyone, I'll bet ... in fact, if you're like me, you probably have a few.
Many of our purses and bags need to have a stiff bottom to adequately support the contents.
I've found that cardboard and foam board work for a while, but quickly lose their stiffness when bent ...
and forget it if they get wet!
And, while wood can work,
you typically have to go bug somebody to cut it for you.
So, we got to thinking ... why not use our laser to cut acrylic plastic?
Any size can be perfectly cut - including rounded edges -
and the 1/8" thick acrylic plastic is both very sturdy and lightweight.
You can order them
online,
give us a call or drop in.
Next, it's hard to believe, but I've been Longarming for 10 years now with my Gammill machine -
and am still having a blast with it.
It seems that the local San Diego
Gammill dealer,
The Quilted Rose,
was getting so many referrals from our shop,
that they decided to make me an authorized Gammill sales representative!
So, if you're thinking about getting a Longarm or Midarm machine,
feel free to call or stop by for a chat.
Quite a few of you know Wendy Mathson,
one of our most popular teachers.
Wendy has designed dozens of patterns over her long and distinguished career,
and she's starting to make them available for sale through our shop and
web site.
I've found her patterns to be both delightful and extremely well-written,
and the quilts you can make are simple and straightforward!
Over time, we'll be adding more of her patterns,
so you'll want to check in from time-to-time!
Seems the UPS and FedEx delivery guys have been huffing and puffing a lot these hot, summer days
with all the fabric that's been coming in.
(More than once, my husband, Mark,
has given me that "that's enough stuff!" gruff, tough look
so he can avoid building more fabric shelves.)
We've gotten a rather eclectic mix of fabric including:
Northern Reflections flannels from Northcott, Ethnic Echoes from Blank, a playful line called Animal Party from Robert Kaufman,
and some beautiful tone on tones.
Then, there's the bolt called Flower Child from Robert Kaufman,
a slightly psychedelic throwback to the late 60's featuring multicolored peace signs.
(Like "far out, man!", "groovy", "heavy" ... but you'll have to come to the shop to see it!)
Just a couple quick comments about fabric ...
If you're thinking about starting a holiday-themed project,
don't delay ...
you've only got a few more days to take advantage of the great savings on our holiday fabric with this month's
coupon!
Second, a quick "heads up"!
In a few short weeks,
we'll be getting the entire line of Girl Scout fabric from Robert Kaufman.
So many fun projects are possible with this line for that special Girl Scout in your life!
Of course, it's "Back to School" time
and we've just updated our
calendar
through October.
Chock full of
classes,
there's something for just about everyone.
Signing up for a class is a great way to learn something new, get a project done and meet new people ...
plus, you'll save 15% off all non-sale merchandise on the day of the class!
And, if you're looking for a place to spread out to get some work done,
or want to get some friends together to sit and sew,
just give us a call.
There's no charge for the use of our classrooms
and you'll both have fun and get a lot done being out of and away from the house!
Just a reminder - we'll be closed on Monday, September 7th for Labor Day,
but open both Saturday and Sunday that weekend
to support your "Labor of Love", quilting.
Whatever your plans, enjoy the time off and be safe!!
