Connecting People with the Joy of Quilting

Hi <%[First]%> <%[Last]%>,

Hello, my Quilters in Paradise!

I have received a handful of emails over the past year or so saying that some web links in our email newsletters are not working. I'm happy to say that while it appears that only a very small number of you have been affected by this, my husband, Mark, after a fair amount of detective work, has come up with a workaround at our end that solves the problem. Without getting too "geeky", the problem had to do with web links that have one or more blanks in the web page address ... seems that some email servers behave differently than most in dealing with this when the email gets delivered - something we have no control over. We appreciate the feedback we've gotten alerting us to the problem and hope that this is now behind us. Please note that you can always access our newsletters, past and present, on our web site. Just place your mouse over the "About Us" menu item on the left hand side and then click on the "Newsletters" sub-menu item.

Seems I'm earning the nickname "Laser Lady" with all the time I'm spending on laser-related projects these days. First, are some simple, yet elegant, Christmas tree ornaments that we've laser-cut out of acrylic plastic. They're perfect for hanging in larger trees as well as smaller trees that stand on a table - and they make for inexpensive and unique gifts for friends, relatives, co-workers, teachers ... anyone to whom you want to express your frienship, love or thanks! Next, it's "Back to the Farm" with McKenna Ryan! Yup, she's got another set of 9 charming farmyard scenes (see picture of Block 1 to the right). With all the exquisite detail, you may be asking yourself: "Gee, I could never do that" or "I don't have the time to cut out all those intricate shapes". Guess what? You don't have to! We're laser cutting all of them for you (including the fusible adhesive) in our Back on the Farm kits. You won't find these kits anywhere else, so create something remarkable and save a bundle of time and effort! Blocks 1, 2 and 3 are available with blocks 4 - 9 coming in the weeks ahead ... so stay tuned!

There's still time to convert those unwanted portions of your stash into cash! Our bi-annual Cash for Stash event will continue two more days through Saturday, October 24th. Already, we've already collected over 1,500 pounds of fabric from many generous donors, and the organizations and groups who receive and use this fabric to make charity quilts have been absolutely thrilled so far! So gather up your scraps (fat quarter size or larger), turn them in and get Quilter's Paradise Dollars that you can use for any merchandise in the shop!

We've had a couple of new classes added since my last newsletter ... First is a delightful and easy-to-make quilt called Birds in the Air with Berit Hokanson. And, second, by popular demand since the first class filled up, is Christmas Tree Skirt with Wendy Mathson. For those of you who work or have daytime commitments and need a little help with your project, there's Open Sewing with Cat with Catherine Wilson, every Thursday evening from 6 - 9.

Please have a safe and enjoyable Halloween! Speaking of which, want to make something fast and fun for Halloween? Here's the secret recipe: Get one roll of toilet paper, one orange fat quarter and a green fat eighth. Wrap the fat quarter around the roll of toilet paper stuffing the fabric into one open end of the roll. Roll up the fat eighth and insert it into one end of the toilet paper roll. Voila ... you have the perfect pumpkin!
