Connecting People with the Joy of Quilting

Hi <%[First]%> <%[Last]%>,

Hello, my Quilters in Paradise!

Hard to believe, but Thanksgiving is only a week away (which, of course, means Christmas is closing in fast)! To kick off the start of this holiday season, I'll be featuring December's table runner / wall hanging from the book Every Month: A Table Runner for Every Month by Jeri Kelly at this Friday's (November 20th) Pizza Night. We've made 2 versions of the kit for this table runner: an appliqué-only kit which includes only the laser-cut pieces, and a complete kit which includes all the laser-cut pieces plus border and background fabric. (My husband, Mark, humorously refers to these kits as "less filling" and "tastes great" borrowing from the Miller Lite beer commercials of old.) With the appliqué-only kit, you can select your own background and border fabric for the table runner. Or, make such things as placemats and decorative pillowcases. Best of all is that you can complete this project in a matter of hours! If you don't want to get the kit and work on it at Pizza Night, no problem ... come on in and enjoy the cameraderie and pizza along with a night "away from it all" to work on whatever you want.

Because Thanksgiving is a time of giving and expressing thanks, I'd like to say "Thank-you!" to all of you for your patronage during this economically-challenging year. And to express our thanks not only in words, but in deeds, we're having a Thanksgiving weekend sale from Friday, November 27th through Sunday, November 29th in which all non-sale merchandise will be 25% off (Please note that the sale is for in-store sales only for merchandise on hand - no rain checks.) We've got plenty of fabric on hand to feast on including several new lines, charm packs and jelly rolls from Moda - Essence, Aster Manor, and Close to My Heart - not to mention a smattering of beautiful new Batiks! And, we've got plenty of room and parking, so there's no need to arrive at 5 a.m. to ensure your spot!

Much of the fun I've been having in "Laser Land" lately is in creating some inexpensive items that make great gifts and stocking stuffers. First, we've started a collection of precision laser-cut shapes with the fusible already attached called Snappliqué Shapes. (See the tree on a towel picture to the right.) They're great for placing on a towel, pillowcase, apron, or sweatshirt, or incorporating into a quilt, wall hanging or table runner. As the name implies, they make wonderful projects a "snap"! Next is The Thread Stem (see picture below). If you're like me, I like to use thread on large spools and cones because it's cheaper and lasts a whole lot longer. But, I really don't like using a thread stand - especially when I travel somewhere to sew - because it's not compact and takes up precious space on my table. So, we came up with a super-simple solution that's a lot less expensive and takes up virtually no room at all! And, finally, we're making personalized ornaments in which you can have a someone special's name engraved on it. These are perfect for family members, such as children and grandchildren, and dear friends who will treasure them for years to come.

Mark your calendars ... Our annual shop holiday party will be held on Saturday, December 5th at 11:30. We'll be having a pot luck (bring whatever you like) and you can optionally participate in a fun game. (If you want to participate in the game, please bring 3 5-inch squares and 3 fat quarters.) Plus, you'll be eligible to win a door prize through a few drawings and you'll get 15% off all non-sale items!

Please have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend!
