I hope you all had a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday! If you've been in the shop this past week, you can certainly tell it's the Holiday Season because the radio station we have playing in the background is mixing holiday tunes with the regular fare. Now that it's December, it's pretty easy to figure out how many shopping days are left until you-know-when (22 to be exact!). If you're one of the many of us who are scratching your heads trying to figure out what to give that special someone, let us help you as we have lots of affordable items and stocking stuffers. Plus, this month's coupon will save you 25% on any one item! So, "What's new at the shop?" you ask. Plenty. To begin with, the 2010 Hoffman Challenge fabric has just arrived! We have the complete line of elegant challenge coordinate fabrics and a large and inspiring selection of other complementary fabrics. Of course, nary a week goes by without some Batiks making their way here. This week, though, the floodgates opened as we received 60 colorful bolts of Batiks for you to "oooh" and "ahhh" over. (Yes, I do openly confess to having gone on yet another "Batik Buying Binge" as my husband, Mark, would say.) For those of you who have young daughters, granddaughters, nieces, etc., we have a kit you won't find anywhere else for a most adorable dress for the holiday and winter season: Alpine Winter. And, we've had so many requests for buttons for embellishing your projects that we've got a whole mini-rack chock full of them from Hillcreek Designs.

As I mentioned in my last newsletter, our annual shop holiday party will be held this Saturday, December 5th at 11:30. We'll be having a pot luck (bring whatever you like) and you can optionally participate in a fun game. (If you want to participate in the game, please bring 3 5-inch squares and 3 fat quarters.) Plus, you'll be eligible to win a door prize through a few drawings and you'll get 20% off all non-sale items!

To keep the holiday cheer going, I'll be featuring January's table runner / wall hanging from the book Every Month: A Table Runner for Every Month by Jeri Kelly at our next Pizza Night on Friday, December 18th. As with last month's kit (which is still available), we've made 2 versions of it: an appliqué-only kit which includes only the laser-cut pieces, and a complete kit which includes all the laser-cut pieces plus border and background fabric. With the appliqué-only kit, you can select your own background and border fabric for the table runner. Or, make such things as placemats and decorative pillowcases. Best of all is that you can complete this project in a matter of hours! If you don't want to get the kit and work on it at Pizza Night, no problem ... come on in and enjoy the cameraderie and pizza along with a night "away from it all" to work on whatever you want.

As for a few "odds and ends", if you need your quilt quilted in time for the holidays, don't fret or abandon all hope. Our Longarm machine has been running like a Ferrari so bring your quilt in and we'll get it done for you! Our Snappliqué Shapes seem to be pretty popular as they're being "snapped" (groan!) up. By popular request, we've added 5 snowflakes cut from a nice, white, soft flannel. Next, we have a free pattern called Super Simple, No Seam Pillowcase. (If, while reading this newsletter, in the back of your mind you're still thinking of what to get that someone for the holidays, consider making a pillowcase with that someone's favorite colors and designs. Think you have no time to do it? Think again ... you can easily make this pillowcase in under a half hour. In fact, come to Pizza Night and make a bunch!) Finally, we continue to enhance and tweak our online quilt calculators in response to feedback that we get. Just recently, we made our Square in a Square calculator much more versatile and complete. These calculators are free for you to use for your projects and they'll save you from even more head scratching!

While I realize that everybody's probably focused on the holiday season right now, I'll conclude by saying that we've updated our calendar for January and it's filled with new classes to start the New Year off right!
