Connecting People with the Joy of Quilting
|
Hi <%[First]%> <%[Last]%>,
Hello, my Quilters in Paradise!
Yes, it's Tax Day today and I certainly hope that if you're staying up late tonight,
it's because you're working on some UFO (UnFinished Object) -
and I'm not referring to an unfinished tax return!
But if you're feeling some Tax Day blues,
I have a couple of suggestions to help bring some cheer.
First, tomorrow (Friday, April 16th) is our monthly
Pizza Night
where you can simply get away, work on whatever you want and enjoy the warm company of others.
Next, our semi-annual
Cash for Stash
event starts this Saturday, April 17th and runs through Saturday, April 24th.
This is a chance to do some spring stash cleaning and get rewarded for doing so!
We'll weigh the fabric you bring in and provide you a Quilter's Paradise dollar for each pound of donated fabric up to 30 pounds.
(It's kinda cool how we get to print money just like Uncle Sam!)
The Quilter's Paradise dollars may then be redeemed for any merchandise in the shop.
In turn, we donate the fabric to a wide variety of guilds, groups and organizations in the San Diego and Southern California area
who use the fabric to make charity quilts for many worthy causes.
Last time we collected over 2,000 pounds of fabric,
so please help us out!
(Please note that donated fabric should be approximately fat quarter size or larger and be 100% cotton quilting fabric.)
Next, I am very excited to tell you about the latest breakthrough in laser-cut kits.
We've been collaborating with a very talented local designer, Corrine Sheldrake,
who has designed absolutely gorgeous stained glass quilts (see pictures below).
I can hear the groans from some of you
as anyone who has attempted to make a stained glass quilt via the traditional method
is faced with many hours of challenging work.
Now I'm not taking or advocating any sides when I say this,
but if you've been following national politics these past few months,
there's a "Tea Party" movement" going on and a certain political party being labeled as "The Party of No".
"What's this got to do with stained glass quilts?" you ask.
Well, if there were quilting politics,
then I'd be part of a movement and a party that said "no" as in:
no tracing, no cutting, no keeping track of and placing pieces, no sewing to assemble, and no laborious laying down of the leading.
Instead, together with Corrine,
we've come up with a new way to do stained glass quilts
in which we say "Yes!" to putting them together in only a few hours simply and easily.
To start out, we are introducing 3
laser-cut stained glass quilt kits
with more planned in the future.
Now, let's say you're interested, but feel you'd like a little instruction and help to get started.
No problem - we've worked a special arrangement with Corrine ...
For the same price as the kit,
you can take her
Stained Glass Made Easy
class which includes the kit!
Speaking of
classes,
we have a wonderful selection of classes coming up on our
calendar
for you to enjoy:
In closing, don't forget that our monthly
Finish It Today (FIT)
demo is Saturday, May 1st at 8:30.
Or, if you can't make it then,
we'll have another on Thursday, May 13th.
Take care and I hope to see you soon!
