Connecting People with the Joy of Quilting
|
Hi <%[First]%> <%[Last]%>,
Hello, my Quilters in Paradise!
In some circles I'm known as the "Gadget Queen"
and I wanted to start this newsletter off by letting you know about a "gotta have" gadget
that I came across.
I like to work with my hands when I'm watching TV or listening to music ...
and I like to read in bed but don't want to bother "Mr. Sue".
Problem is, the lighting is either much too dim or lights up the whole room thereby bothering those around me.
But I've found a rather nifty solution, the
Mini LED Light.
It's extremely light and comfortably fits on your ear shining a bright, focused light wherever you look.
Because you wear it,
it goes where you go
and both your hands are free to do whatever you want.
I've been using it now for a few weeks and it's just perfect
for doing lap work, reading a book in bed (without disturbing your partner),
reading a map in a car at night, or just plain seeing in the dark.
The replaceable batteries are long lasting
and I've worn it for hours with no trouble at all.
And, it's only $14.95.
It's time to get out and see what's new for the
Row Quilt Run
that starts Saturday, August 7th and continues through Saturday, August 14th.
The theme of this run is "Block Party Week"
so get out of your starting blocks,
visit the participating shops,
get your free pattern and see what each shop is offering!
I don't know about you,
but when I was a young girl,
summers seemed to last forever.
But now, time flies by so quickly ...
seems like graduations were just being held
and already it's "Back to School" season!
However, the good news is that this time of year also marks "Back to Quilting"!!
To celebrate both,
our August
coupon
will net you BIG savings on books.
In a single transaction,
enjoy these savings:
|
1 book
|
|
15% off that book!
|
|
2 books
|
|
25% off those books!
|
|
3+ books
|
|
35% off those books!
|
And, to help you take advantage of the coupon (and all the other "stuff" we have),
we've listened to you and have added American Express
to Visa, MasterCard and DiscoverCard as the credit cards we accept in the shop and online.
Although I just mentioned the "Back to School" season coming upon us,
summer still has a ways to go.
Being near the ocean invites images of sailing and the sun slowly sinking on the horizon with birds flying freely in the air.
Those images are captured on two striking stained glass laser-cut kits:
Setting Sail
and
Soaring Pelican
.
You can assemble these kits in under 2 hours -
all the pieces (including the black leading) are laser-cut with fusible attached.
All you have to do is follow the simple design map ...
there's no tricky lining up of pieces to do or bias tape to mess with!
And, for those of you who like table runners,
we now have laser-cut kits of Jeri Kelly's
August Every Month table runner
.
Our
calendar
has been updated through September and continues to have many fun and interesting
classes
to choose from.
As a reminder from my last newsletter,
we just started an
Electric Quilt (EQ) club
which meets once/month on the fourth Sunday from 10-11:30.
Admission is free
and you'll have tons of fun learning EQ in a relaxed and lesson-oriented manner.
We do have
EQ7
,
the latest version which just came out.
But, I do have 1 copy of EQ6 left
which I will sell for only $89.95 (regular price is $149.95)
to the first person who responds to this email!!
Other classes include:
Jayne Kratzer is returning with her ever-popular class
Holiday Treasure Chest and 6-inch Gift Box
each Tuesday.
Grace Errea is returning with her ever popular
Beginning an Art Quilt Top.
Karen Cunagin has several fun project-oriented classes including
Simple Gifts, and
Pillow Angel.
Mary Lou Rankin has scheduled several informative and hands-on garment making classes including
The White Shirt, and
A Jacket for All Seasons.
Sharon Wilhite is teaching her unique and original design in
Prairie Queen.
Lyn Mann is teaching more of her touted designs with
Let's Make a Deal.
In closing,
I'm happy to point out that my partner in crime (and husband), Mark,
and I are celebrating our 27th anniversary tomorrow.
To mark the occasion,
there was a cartoon a couple of weeks ago in the local paper that he likes to show people ...
The wife is reading an article in the paper and says to her husband:
"It says a spouse can cause more stress than a boss."
The husband is walking out the door carrying the trash along with his "Honey Do List" and replies:
"There's a difference?"
Being a good sport,
Mark says with a wink in his eye:
"Hey, look, I'm a married guy.
Maybe I'm not good at following directions,
but I do follow orders."
