What is an ImagiCut^TM Fusible Appliqué Duet?

It is an artistic design cut out of fabric with an attached fusible adhesive.

Appliqués have been around for years. What makes ImagiCut Fusible Appliqué Duets special?

ImagiCut Fusible Appliqué Duets, or Imagicut Duets for short, combine the extraordinary power of computer-generated graphics with the precision cutting of lasers. Simply put, anything you can draw can be cut ... repeatedly and exactly the same each and every time. You're limited only by what you can imagine, hence the name ImagiCut.

What does the term "Duet" mean?

"Duet" refers to the fact that there are two designs in each product: a Primary design and an Inverse design in which each is the inverse image of the other. (Inverse is like a photo negative - see example below.) It's like getting two for the price of one!

Could I could cut the designs myself?

Clearly, it depends on one's skill level, attention to detail and patience. Certainly there are people who can cut a number of simpler designs. Even for such designs, use of a laser cutter is much faster and ensures that every cut is perfect and precise. And, when cutting multiple copies, every copy is exactly identical.

Use of computer graphic software and a laser cutter enable the creation of more intricate and complex designs never before possible. For example, consider the design below.

Applying the ImagiCut Duet to my background material looks complicated. For example, do I need to place all the individual pieces in the ImagiCut Duet?

Application is straightforward and you do NOT need to place the individual pieces. In fact, each piece in the design is held in place via a small tab that gets snipped during the application process. As a result, every piece in the design is easily and perfectly placed where it belongs! With each ImagiCut Duet, we include complete, step-by-step, illustrated application directions.

What tools do I need?

All you need are a damp cloth or paper towel, pin, sharp scissors, iron, and ironing board. Optionally, you may want to use a pressing sheet, magnifier, and/or portable light.

Will the ImagiCut Duet fray once it has been applied?

No. One beneficial side effect of laser cutting is that the edges are seared which makes them crisp and much less susceptible to fraying. However, as one of the final steps in applying the ImagiCut Duet to the background fabric, you must sew the edges as the adhesive is not permanent.

What if I want an ImagiCut Duet in a fabric or color that is not offered on your web site?

At this time, ImagiCut Duets are offered only in the fabrics and colors on our web site.

If I have my own design, will you cut it for me? Also, can I commission you to design something for me?

We are contemplating offering design services in the future. However, at this time, we are not offering such services. Please note that even if you have your own design, there is work that we must undertake to properly digitize the design for use by our laser cutter.
