Please follow the instructions below to prepare your quilt before bring it or shipping it to Quilter's Paradise:

Borders

Borders improperly applied can distort a quilt and cause flared or wavy borders, puckering and other problems.  The best way to avoid these issues is to apply the borders properly.  Measure the quilt width across the center and cut your borders to that length.  Mark the quilt borders and the quilt in eighths. Match the marks, and work in or 'ease' the quilt into the borders.

 Quilt Top Preparation

1.   Carefully press the quilt top, seams should lay flat.

2.   Be sure all seams that end at the edge are secure.  You may stay stitch edge seams of the top (⅛ in) if you have a multi-pieced border, bias cut pieces, or where border seams come to the edge, or if you feel it is necessary.

3.   Clip thread tails, and remove all loose threads.  Loose threads can be unsightly in a finished quilt.

4.    Indicate the top of your quilt, please secure with a safety pin.

Quilt Backing Preparation

1.   Backing, whether pieced or whole cloth, MUST be minimally 4 inches wider and 4 inches longer on all sides of your quilt top.

2.   If backing is seamed, remove all selvages prior to seaming.  Use at least a ¼  inch seam.

3.   Press backing carefully.

4.   Square your backing fabric and then re-measure to ensure that you have the appropriate amount of backing fabric.

5.   Do NOT use polyester or sheets for the backing.  Percale and sheeting are difficult to quilt through.

6.   Do NOT baste quilt layers together!  These layers are loaded separately on the Longarm quilting machine!

Batting

You may supply a quality batting, or purchase batting with your quilting services.
