Can't Take My Eyes Off of You
by

I'm sure that most, if not all, quilters
have experienced moments when they see a fabric
that just leaves them speechless.
They stop dead in their tracks
staring at it, drinking it all in and oblivious to everything around,
feeling that delicious tingling sensation that crawls up the spine and embraces them.
Whether they know what they're going to do with the fabric is immaterial ...
they just know that this fabric is "the one" ...
and they must have it.
Having witnessed these moments of sublime ecstasy on numerous occasions, it occurred to me one day that what better song to capture and describe these moments than the 1967 immortal hit "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" sung by Frankie Valli. (Interestingly, only a few words needed to be modified ...) |

You're just too good to be true Can't take my eyes off of you You'd be like Heaven to touch I wanna hold you so much At long last I'm now revived And I thank God you've arrived You're just too good to be true Can't take my eyes off of you Pardon the way that I stare There's nothing else to compare The sight of you leaves me weak I dream of you when I sleep And since I feel like I feel Please let me know that it's real You're just too good to be true Can't take my eyes off you I love my fabric And if it's quite all right I'll make a snug quilt To warm a lonely night I love my fabric Trust in me when I say Oh, pretty fabric Don't be all gone, I pray Oh, pretty fabric, now that I found you, stay And let me sew you, sweetly Let me sew you You're just too good to be true Can't take my eyes off of you You'd be like Heaven to touch I wanna hold you so much At long last I'm now revived And I thank God you've arrived You're just too good to be true Can't take my eyes off of you I love my fabric And if it's quite all right I'll make a snug quilt To warm a lonely night I love my fabric Trust in me when I say Oh, pretty fabric Don't be all gone, I pray Oh, pretty fabric, now that I found you, stay ... |
