My Favorite Things

Remember all of those great songs from the classic "Sound of Music"? One of the most popular is "My Favorite Things" as it conjures up a delightful mix of images, sounds, tastes and feelings that playfully arouse the senses and imagination. We can't help but feel warm and happy as we listen to the song. I've often heard quilters say "Quilting is my therapy" (or a similar variation), and so, with a little wordsmithing, here's the quilter's version of "My Favorite Things" ...
	Quilts on a bed, on a couch or a cradle Hung on the wall or in use on a table Snug in a quilt by a fire crackling These are a few of my favorite things Fondling the fabric and hunting for treasures Seeking unique things and delightful pleasures Going to quilt shops all day on a fling These are a few of my favorite things Perfect cut pieces and concurring colors Sewing that glides as my needle works wonders Retreats with friends and no phones that can ring These are a few of my favorite things Late night sew sessions and searching through stashes Unfinished objects that bloom 'fore I crashes Gifts for my friends and the love that they'll bring These are a few of my favorite things When the pins prick When the thread breaks When I'm feeling sad I simply remember my favorite things And then I don't feel so bad
